The birthplace of golf and the British Open Championship, Scotland is many golfers' dream golf vacation destination. The most popular and famous are the links courses that have evolved on sandy coastal strips which, centuries ago, were beneath the sea. Here nature is the architect, the course being fashioned out of the natural terrain rather than having design imposed upon it. All about you, there is an overwhelming atmosphere of history knowing you are walking in the footsteps of the greats who made golf the game it is today.
Championship Golf Experience for 2
Enjoy a total of two rounds of golf for two among your choice of the following championship golf courses:
Kingsbarns Golf Links – Kingsbarns Golf Links is situated 7 miles from St Andrews along 1.8 miles of picturesque North Sea coastline, where each hole embraces the sea. In addition to enjoying our Worldwide Top 100 ranked course, we hope lifelong memories of our comfortable, friendly and attentive service complete your “Kingsbarns Experience”. Kingsbarns co-hosts the annual European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship together with the Old Course at St Andrews and Carnoustie Golf Links. In 2017 The Ricoh Women’s British Open will be contested at Kingsbarns. (6351 Yards/Par 72)
Prestwick Golf Club Links (Ayrshire) - Situated on a stretch of golfing terrain unrivaled in the world, Prestwick is less than a couple of hours travel from all the other Open Championship courses in Scotland and is a must play for any discerning lover of the game. The course is a traditional monument, an authentic affair with a layout of holes that snake to and fro through rugged dunes and rippled fairways. There are numerous blind holes and cavernous sleepered bunkers with wooden steps to take you down to the bottom. The greens are notoriously firm and fast – some are hidden in hollows whilst others are perched on raised plateaus. The majority are quite small and all of them have wicked borrows to negotiate. The birthplace of the Open Championships, a simple stone cairn to the west of Prestwick’s clubhouse marks the spot where the first tee shot was struck in 1860. It identifies the opening hole of the original 12-hole course and the place where modern golfing history began. (6908 Yards/Par 71)
St Andrews Links / Castle Course – The newest addition to St Andrews Links, The Castle Course opened in 2008 becoming the seventh course at the Home of Golf and part of the largest public golfing complex in Europe. Set on a rugged cliff-top with spectacular views over St Andrews, The Castle Course offers a memorable golfing experience. (6759 Yards/Par 71)
Royal Troon Golf Club / Old Course (Troon) – Host to the British Open Championship eight times, most recently in 2004, it was also host to the 2008 Senior Open. Ranked #40 in the world, this marvelous course lies at the southern end of a long run of dune land stretching from Irvine to Prestwick. Royal Troon is an exceptionally demanding course, recognized as one of the sternest in the British Open schedule. (7,097 Yards/Par 72)
Note: Players must be at least 16 years of age.
Carnoustie Golf Links / The Championship Course (Angus) - Host of the Open seven times between 1931 to 2007. Ranked #21 in the world, Carnoustie is described as one of the true wonders of the golf world. Frequently used for the British Open, and most recent host to the Open in 1999, this 18-hole layout presents one of the greatest challenges for any player at the top of his game. (6,936 Yards/Par 72)
Note: Players must be at least 14 years of age.
Fairmont St Andrews / The Torrance Course - Originally designed by Sam Torrance, the Torrance Course is now re-designed with eight new holes and classic Scottish revetted bunkering throughout Scottish style links design. This course is a test for all levels from tour professionals to amateur golfers. With beautiful sea views and intricate USGA greens, the Torrance Course is one of Scotland's finest. (7,230 Yards/Par 72)
